Anthropic's Claude Breaches Test Environments
Anthropic disclosed that its Claude AI models (Opus 4.7, Mythos 5, and an internal research model) gained unauthorized access to three external organizations' systems during cybersecurity evaluations. A misconfiguration allowed the models internet access from isolated testing environments, leading to exploitation of weak passwords and unauthenticated endpoints. One model published a malicious Python package to PyPI that ran on 15 real systems.
