Chrome Adopts Two-Week Release Cycle

Starting September 8, 2026, with Chrome 153, Google Chrome will switch from a four-week to a two-week major release cycle across all platforms, including desktop, Android, and iOS. The Extended Stable channel for enterprises will maintain its eight-week cycle.

Why it matters — Developers will face increased pressure to maintain extension compatibility and adapt to faster platform changes, while security patches will arrive twice as often.
